 After fleeing his Japanese captors in Borneo during World War II, American prisoner of war Learoyd (Nick Nolte) hides out in the jungle, where he's taken in by a tribe of headhunters who consider him sacred because of his intricate tattoos. When British soldiers discover Learoyd two years later, they're astonished that he's been crowned king.
